DESCRIZIONE
Messina. 1901: Giovanni Pascoli, a lecturer in Latin literature at the University, lives in this lovely rather sleepy town in Sicily with his inseparable sister Maria.
They come from the northern region of Romagna, have practically no social life and a way of life very different from the locals.
At a certain point the retiring Professor quite unexpectedly becomes friend with one of the foremost families of the town, the princely Monteferrantes, to the enjoyment of all except Maria. A very anxious, resentful person, she is terrified that strangers, even quite involuntarily, might hurt her extremely sensitive brother.
It seems she is right when a violent death in the Monteferrante family, whom she has refused to meet, profoundly upsets her Giovannino...a mystery that the famous Italian poet and his sister, who finally decides to assist him, manage to solve though the whole story comes out only in December 1908 when a tremendous earthquake destroys the town.
An enthralling novel with real-life characters: Giovanni Pascoli and his sister Maria.

Maria Santini, was born in Turin but has lived in Rome for many years. Her insatiable intellectual curiosity is a characteristic of this author who has many mistery novels to her name and various biographical essays. All her books are published by Simonelli Editore.
